My story starts in Saskatchewan, north of the flat parts, up in the land of coulees and lakes and hills and brilliant Northern Lights. Land where little gophers poked their cute noses out of their hidey-holes….
where red-winged blackbirds nested in the marshes along the lakes where my Dad fished in the summer, and played hockey in the winter….
where my grandfather planted thousands and thousands of birch trees – scarce when he first homesteaded after coming over the briny from the Scottish Highlands…..
And then we moved to Ontario, when I was four years old, settling in Owen Sound, where I lived until my marriage at 18. I have lived in Whitby, Oshawa, Barrie, Fort Erie, Ridgeway, Pickering, and Toronto – mostly Toronto. And I love it here.
and I love it here…..
and here……
and here…..
and most of all here….. on any Ontario beach.
